Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Workload, Workstation Design, User Acceptance and Trust in Collaborative Robots

Collaborative robots are revolutionising the manufacturing industry and way workers perform their tasks. When designing shared workspaces between humans, human factors ergonomics often overlooked. This study assessed relationship cognitive workload, workstation design, user acceptance trust in collaborative robots. We combined subjective objective data to evaluate workload during an assembly task three different scenarios which we manipulated various features of interaction modalities. Our results showed that participants experienced a reduction each trials, indicating improvement performance. Additionally, found predicted perceived stress across trials but did not significantly impact workload.
